Getting back in the saddle

It’s been two years. And what I thought to be A Second Spring in Oslo turned out to be just a short respite between waves, scares and shut-downs. In the small pockets of time in-between I’ve somehow managed to open two restaurants, get married, have a child, sell my apartment and move back to Sweden. The momentum has been staggering, the time for afterthought minimal, but I’ve now somewhat started to acclimatize to my new surroundings.

I now live in a medium sized town without any resemblance to a wine scene. At all. The wines available at the shops are boring at best, and if one wants any inspiration at all one must start with the temporary selection and work ones way to the ordering assortment. Considering how little time I’ve had for wine tastings and travel lately I guess that’s fine as a start. Before I start aspiring to any deep levels of obsession with wine again I need to start practicing my tasting and writing whilst getting to know the selection of a new country. Ergo there are going to be a lot of quick tasting notes on medium priced wines in the future, more as a reminder to myself than to anyone else.

So let’s get started…

DeAetna Bianco 2020 Terra Costantino

Waxed yellow hue with watery edge.

Aroma of yellow plums and apples, rubber hose and a hint of saffron. Juicy, medium acidity, good focus and pleasant balance. Medium finish with reoccurring aromas of yellow fruit and a lingering, slightly overwhelming bitterness.

A good wine for the price (179 sek), suitable for soft, mild cheeses and rich vegetable pasta dishes.
