Femme Fatale Yuzu Pale

A reunion with that rascal Evil Twin has been long overdue. The Danish gypsy brewer justifies his name by being the lesser known brother of the Bjergsø family (his brother is Mikkel Borg Bjergsø of the Mikkeller brewery) and also by taking a ballsy attitude to his own and others beer production. Owner and proprieter of Ølbutikken, he still manages to brew his beers at around 10 different breweries over the world. Femme Fatale Yuzu Pale for example is a 100% true Brett IPA with Yuzu fruit at about 6% brewed at Westbrook Brewing in Brooklyn.

Cloudy, with a color adjacent to peach puré. The nose gives a strong primary aroma of yuzu, remarkably strong actually, even considering that yuzu is added to the brew.. This is accompanied by fistful of hops, a light bready note and a finish with citrus and a hint of weed (the regular kind, not the fun kind). The mouth-feel is structured, a bit overly sweet to my liking and unevenly balanced. That saying it’s a well-made brew, with a number of flattering elements such as the nose and the creamy yet fresh texture. Don’t pay a lot for it, but don’t shy away from it either.
